TimeZone Pro | Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the TimeZone Pro Chrome extension accesses, how it is used, and where it is stored when you use timezone features.
Last updated: October 22, 20261. Information the extension uses
TimeZone Pro may process the timezone you select, your chosen mode (manual, automatic, or random), and extension preferences needed to provide its features. Depending on how automatic timezone detection is implemented, an external IP-geolocation service may receive a request and may be able to see your IP address. The service used and the information sent should be disclosed here before publication.
The extension may interact with webpage timezone-related JavaScript or browser context on sites where you choose to use it. It is not designed to collect passwords, payment details, or the contents of webpages for unrelated purposes.
2. How information is used
- To apply or simulate the timezone you select, where supported by the extension.
- To support automatic timezone detection if you enable that feature.
- To provide random timezone mode and remember your settings.
- To troubleshoot issues and maintain core extension functionality.
TimeZone Pro does not use extension data for advertising, profiling, or analytics unless a future version adds such functionality and this policy is updated accordingly.
3. Storage and sharing
Extension preferences may be stored using Chrome's extension storage API. If the extension uses storage.local, settings are stored locally in your browser. If it uses storage.sync, Chrome may synchronize those settings through your Google account according to your Chrome Sync settings.
Timezone detection requests, if provided by an external service, are sent to that service only when the relevant feature is used. The provider may process request metadata, including your IP address, under its own privacy policy. Replace this text with the actual provider and its privacy-policy link if applicable.
Except as described above, the extension developer does not receive or store your browsing history or timezone preferences on a developer-operated server. Do not use this statement if your implementation sends this information to your own server or another service.
4. Permissions and why they are needed
The exact permissions depend on the final manifest and implementation. Common permissions may include:
- storage: to save the user's timezone choice and extension settings.
- tabs: if implemented, to identify the active tab or coordinate a user-requested action with the current tab. This permission should be omitted if not needed.
- host permissions / website access: only if needed to apply timezone behavior to websites. Broad access such as
<all_urls>should be requested only if the extension genuinely needs to operate across all sites. - Other permissions: explain each additional permission here based on the actual manifest and code.
5. Data security and retention
Settings stored in Chrome remain subject to Chrome's storage and security behavior. The extension does not intentionally retain personal information on developer-operated servers unless a feature explicitly described in this policy requires it. Information handled by external services is subject to their retention and security practices.
6. Your choices
You can change or clear settings in the extension, disable or remove the extension in Chrome, and manage Chrome Sync through your browser settings. You can avoid using automatic detection if you do not want a request sent to its configured provider. Removing the extension removes its stored data according to Chrome's extension storage behavior.
7. Children's privacy
TimeZone Pro is a general-purpose browser extension and is not specifically designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the extension.
8. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the extension's features or data practices change. The latest version and its effective date will be published at this URL.
Use of information accessed through Chrome permissions is limited to providing or improving the extension's user-facing features, as described in this policy. Such information is not sold or used for advertising, and is not transferred for unrelated purposes. Access is limited to what is necessary for the feature the user chooses to use.
